It only took 10 minutes for Lamine Yamal to score 1st World Cup goal
As the World Cup is in full swing on Sunday with Spain dominating Saudi Arabia, 4-0, the game got started due to an exciting play from young star Lamine Yamal. With some already comparing the 18-year-old Spain star to Lionel Messi at the World Cup, his play on Sunday will impress anybody who watched the game.
It didn’t take long at all for Yamal to make his mark on the game, which was needed after Spain disappointingly tied with Cabo Verde last Monday, 0-0. 10 minutes into the contest against Saudi Arabia, Yamal would get a perfect feed, as he was running inside the box to get his first World Cup goal.

While Spain found themselves in third place in Group H, the win over Saudi Arabia has now put them at the very top of the group, which had been expected at some point. Going into the World Cup, Spain had been one of the main favorites to win it all, which is why the initial 0-0 tie to Cabo Verde could have been seen as an underwhelming start to the group stage.
Spain coach warns about comparisons involving Lamine Yamal
At any rate, Yamal will continue to be a key piece to the team going into the tourney, and while the comparisons will continue with Messi and others, even Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente would caution those types of takes.
“It would be a mistake to compare [Yamal] to anyone,” De la Fuente said in a news conference Saturday, according to ESPN. “He’s 18, in a process of development, of maturing… We have to let him follow his path.”
“These kinds of players, who have something different, are ready for it,” De la Fuente continued. “They’re geniuses, like Salvador Dali or Michelangelo. What seems exceptional to us, isn’t for them.”
While Yamal looks to create his own potentially impactful path, he looks to help Spain win the group and solidify themselves as a top team with the next game coming on Friday against Uruguay.
