After a long layoff, the New York Knicks will return to action as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

The Knicks have been on a roll in the playoffs, winning by an average margin of over 19 points in the first two rounds. It will be interesting to see if their extended break after sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers would be a significant factor.

For sure, it gave OG Anunoby, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, extra time to heal. He has not played since Game 2 against the 76ers.

But will he suit up in Game 1 against the Cavaliers?

According to the NBA’s injury report, Anunoby is probable to play. Obviously, it is a good sign for the Knicks, who will need every firepower they can get against the Cavaliers.

Anunoby is arguably the team’s best defender, and he will likely be tasked with covering multiple positions, including against Evan Mobley, James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, and Max Strus.

The 28-year-old forward is averaging 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks in the playoffs.

Knicks coach Mike Brown said Anunoby was a full participant at practice on Monday.

Several players stepped up for New York during his absence, including Miles McBride, Landry Shamet, and Jordan Clarkson.

The Knicks have not lost to the Cavaliers in the playoffs, winning all four of their previous matchups. They are meeting beyond the first round for the first time.
