Is Anthony Edwards playing tonight? Timberwolves vs. Spurs 2026 NBA Playoffs Game 1 injury report

The Minnesota Timberwolves had one of the most impressive first round series, taking down the Denver Nuggets in six games. If they’re to have any hope of taking down their second round opponent, however, they’ll need Anthony Edwards back from injury.

Edwards missed the final two-and-a-half games of the Denver series after suffering a hyperextension in his left knee. The Timberwolves dropped Game 5, but were able to secure a massive Game 6 victory in Minneapolis with a sellout crowd cheering them on for every minute.

With Edwards missing the last few games in what the team called a, “week-to-week,” injury, it’s fair to wonder: is Anthony Edwards playing tonight vs. Spurs?

Here’s everything we know about Anthony Edwards ‘s injury status for tonight’s game vs. the Spurs in Game 1.

Anthony Edwards’ injury status vs. the Spurs in Game 1

The Minnesota Timberwolves have listed Anthony Edwards as OUT over the last few days as he recovers from a hyperextension and bruised knee. However, the latest injury report provides some optimism ahead of the Wolves’ first round playoff series against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Timberwolves have listed Anthony Edwards as QUESTIONABLE to play in Game 1 of their second round series against the Spurs. Edwards, who has missed the last two games with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise, has been cleared for on-court basketball activities, and the team says they’ll provide further updates on his progress when they’re available.

Edwards being upgraded to QUESTIONABLE after missing just two games is a fantastic sign, as it appears the guard has a very realistic chance of returning at some point during the second round series.

Anthony Edwards had a strong start to his postseason, averaging 23 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game for the Timberwolves. Just 17 minutes into his Game 4 performance, Edwards went down awkwardly while trying to block Cameron Johnson’s shot in transition. Edwards suffered a hyperextension of his left knee and a bone bruise in the injury that he appeared lucky not to suffer anything serious from.

During the last couple of days, off, Anthony Edwards could be seeing taking part in individual shooting drills as he ramps back up to a return for the Timberwolves.

Edwards played three games against the Spurs this season, averaging 36.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 38 minutes of play. That includes a career-high 55-point night against the Spurs on January 17th.

In recent days, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama came out and said he’s hopeful Edwards can make a full recovery and play in the series.

“We have more than [Anthony] Edwards [to worry about] and [Donte] DiVincenzo, but those two are players that I like watching,” Wembanyama said. “I like playing against [them]. They go hard. It always breaks my heart when I see somebody get hurt.”

Anthony Edwards put up career highs in scoring this season, averaging 28.8 points 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game while playing 35 minutes a night.

So, when it comes to the question of if Anthony Edwards is playing tonight vs. the Spurs, the answer is still 50/50 as Edwards is still Questionable.
