When it comes to dominance in the Indian Premier League, few franchises can match the legacy of Mumbai Indians. Being the most successful team alongside Chennai Super Kings with five IPL titles to their name, MI have built their reputation on consistency and big-match temperament.

Over the years, Mumbai Indians have not just won trophies, they have set benchmarks in the tournament. Some of these records are so extraordinary that they feel almost untouchable, even in a tournament known for its unpredictability and evolution.

On that note, let's take a look at five such records held by MI that seem nearly impossible to break:

Most sixes by a team in IPL history - 1823 Sixes

The most successful IPL franchise ever, Mumbai Indians, lead the chart in the prestigious list of hitting most sixes in IPL’s history. Many legendary six-hitters, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, and Suryakumar Yadav, among many have contributed to MI's tally.

In 277 matches the Mumbai Indians batters have scored a staggering 1823 sixes in the world's premier T20 league. No other team is close in this list, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru being a distance second with 1774 sixes. With the gap so huge, it will not be easy for any other team to break MI's record.

Biggest margin of victory (by balls) - 87 balls remaining vs KKR

In the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008, Mumbai Indians blew away their arch-rivals Kolkata Knight Riders to secure a famous victory at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Bowling first, MI bowlers gave the visiting side no chance as KKR was bundled out for just 67 runs, with Shaun Pollock taking three wickets.

Chasing a modest target, MI’s opener Sanath Jayasuriya came out all guns blazing, scoring an unbeaten 48 off 17. They chased down the target in just 5.3 overs, winning with 87 balls to spare. It remains the biggest margin of victory in terms of balls remaining in IPL history.

Biggest margin of victory (by runs) - by 146 runs vs Delhi Daredevils

Even the record of biggest win in terms of runs belongs to the Mumbai Indians, and that pretty much sums up why they are the powerhouses of the IPL. The Mumbai-based side claimed the record victory in IPL 2017 against Zaheer Khan’s Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side scored 212 runs in their 20 overs, with the help of two brilliant knocks by Lendl Simmons (66 off 43 balls) and Kieron Pollard (63 off 35 balls). Defending a huge total, it was a clinical show by the MI bowlers, as they bundled out the home side for a mere 66 runs, claiming a huge victory of 146 runs. It still remains the biggest victory in IPL by runs.
