ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026: Bangladesh name strong squad with Nigar Sultana as captain

With eyes on the first title at the tournament, Bangladesh Women have named their squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Nigar Sultana, the experienced campaigner, will be leading the strong 15-member squad for the Asian nation. Marufa Akter has been designated as Nigar's deputy for the global tournament.

Mainstays of the squad like Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter and Shorna Akter have also made it to the unit. Meanwhile, Sobhana Mostary, Fahima Khatun, Juairiya Ferdous and Taj Nehar have been handed spots in the squad as well. Furthermore, Sharmin Akter Supta, Shanjida Akther Maghla and Fariha Islam Trisna will also be seen showcasing their talent at the multinational tournament.

The 2026 edition of the marquee event will mark the seventh appearance for Bangladesh, but they are yet to make it to the finals. Ahead of this year's competition, Bangladesh won the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier and finished first with a rampant unbeaten run. They will be looking to replicate a similar outcome in the main event as well, but the competition is going to be quite intense.

Bangladesh: ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Schedule, Dates, and Venues

Bangladesh have been placed in Group 1 of the competition and will be playing their campaign opener against the Netherlands on June 14 in Birmingham. They will further be seen crossing swords with Australia (June 17), Pakistan (June 20), and India (June 25) before playing their last group-stage fixture at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground against South Africa (June 28).
