The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to stage its annual conference in Edinburgh later this year, with the event tentatively scheduled to take place from July 8 to 11. The venue was finalised during a recent virtual board meeting, and the proceedings will be led by ICC Chairman Jay Shah.

The conference will follow immediately after the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is slated to be held in England from June 12 to July 5. ICC members, many of whom are expected to attend the final at Lord’s, will travel to Scotland for the annual gathering, as reported by Cricbuzz.

One of the key agendas during the Edinburgh meet will be the election of Associate Board Directors. Three representatives from Associate nations will be elected to the 17-member ICC Board, with the term set for two years. The contest is likely to witness strong participation from several prominent names across Associate cricket.

Among those expected to be in contention are Rwanda Cricket Association head Stephen Musaale, Cricket Namibia president Rudie van Vuuren, Bermuda’s Neil Speight, USA’s Sankar Renganathan, along with current Associate members of the Chief Executives’ Committee such as Gurumurthy Palani. Sitting Associate Directors including Mubashir Usmani, Mahinda Vallipuram, and Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja are also expected to feature in the race.

Meanwhile, the ICC recently held its board meeting virtually after the originally scheduled March 25-27 meeting in Doha, Qatar, was postponed due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

ICC congratulates Jay Shah for becoming 22nd most powerful Indian

Meanwhile, the international governing body has congratulated its chairman Jay Shah for getting recognised as the 22nd most powerful Indian. The list was recently released by The Indian Express in which Jay Shah found a place. ICC took to X (formerly X) to congratulate him.

“It is said that power and responsibility go hand-in-hand. This recognition is well-deserved and one that will definitely motivate our chairman @JayShah to strive harder towards loftier goals for the Sport,” ICC wrote.

Apart from him, Gautam Gambhir (74th rank), Virat Kohli (75th), and Jasprit Bumrah, too, found themselves on the prestigious list.
