How Colin Cowherd believes Jalen Brunson can become ‘Best Knick ever’

As the New York Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in a Game 2 stunner on Thursday, 109-93, the team is being led by star Jalen Brunson in the hopes of capturing the first championship for the franchise since 1973. While the Knicks look to make the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, Colin Cowherd took time to credit Brunson in how he could end up being the best player in franchise history.

With New York rolling and in the driver’s seat to eliminate the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, though the chance of a comeback is still present, Cowherd would speak on how Brunson sees the “big picture.” He would specifically say on “The Herd” that the talk about how Brunson took less money from the team in July of 2024, so the team could build around him, with the potential for a title and being the “best Knick ever.”

“Jalen Brunson needs to be treated like a star,” Cowherd said. “He doesn’t seek it because he doesn’t need it. All you need to know about Jalen Brunson comes in the form of he took less money to be a New York Knick because he gets and sees the big picture, and if he gets a trophy, it will be worth in his lifetime over $100, $150 million, the big picture, best Knick ever.”

“And he gets it’s all about winning now, and he gets that him taking a pay cut can get you the Mikal Bridges. So some people in life, believe it or not, can excel without constant 24/7 validation,” Cowherd continued. “He gets it.”

It remains to be seen if Brunson and the Knicks can close it out, as Game 3 against the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals is on Saturday night.
