What possibly began as a comedy act in WWE last year, in 2025, finished off as one of the most legendary storylines in Mexico. At the recently concluded AAA Noche de Los Grandes, fans saw El Grande Americano defeat the OG El Grande Americano in a mask vs. mask match.

Keeping the honor of his girlfriend and the Mexican pride, Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano successfully defeated the original one and unmasked them. Following the unmasking, it was revealed to be Chad Gable, who delivered an emotional promo before walking off. The almost 30-minute match became the talk of the town and one of the most highly praised WWE matches in a long time.

Both Kaiser and Gable gave their best and presented fans with a historic moment. The match also featured outside interference from others, including the Creed Brothers, Los Americanos, Pimpinela Escarlata, and Andrea Bazarte. One of those names, Rayo Americano, also known as Pete Dunne, had a much greater role to play than just his interference.

According to Ernesto Ocampo, chief editor of Super Luchas, Pete Dunne was reportedly the producer for the mask vs. mask match. “Someone who hasn’t been credited for the El Grande Americano vs. Original Grande Americano feud at #AAANocheDeLosGrandes is Pete Dunne, who was the producer of that match,” wrote Ocampo.

Apart from his current in-ring work, Dunne has also been working as a producer in WWE for the past couple of years. He has been one of the main producers in AAA since WWE acquired the promotion just over a year ago.
