Guardians announce 2 roster moves before Phillies series
In the midst of a six-game win streak, the Cleveland Guardians now gearing up for a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. But before first pitch, Cleveland decided to shake up their bullpen.
The Guardians have activated right-hander Peyton Pallette from the paternity list, the team announced. In turn, fellow right-hander Codi Heuer has been optioned to Triple-A.
Pallette made his major league debut when he debuted with the Guardians earlier this season. Through his first 15 appearances, the right-hander holds a 5.49 ERA and a 21/13 K/BB ratio. While Pallette is still new to major league action, the Guardians will want him to find his footing sooner rather than later.
Heuer has only made two appearances for Cleveland in 2026. But he holds a 3.38 ERA and a 3/1 K/BB ratio. With a career 3.66 ERA over his four years in the majors, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Heuer get another major league call when the Guardians need a fresh bullpen arm.
As it stands, Cleveland’s relief corps rank 13th in ERA with a collective 3.80. They rank fifth in strikeouts (202) and have given up the 10th-fewest walks (73). Furthermore, the Guardians’ .227 batting average against ranks ninth.
While the numbers look solid as is, the Guardians have much higher expectations. Manager Stephen Vogt is expecting his team to reach greater heights than just making the playoffs in 2026. Cleveland knows their bullpen will be paramount to any success they find.
Pallette won’t turn the Guardians into world beaters over night. But he will give the team a different look out of the bullpen as they prepare for their Phillies series.
