Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux reveals what he loves most about ‘maniac’ John Harbaugh

With the New York Giants’ minicamp underway, the new era under head coach John Harbaugh is gearing up to make some major noise for the 2026 season. As the Giants feature Kayvon Thibodeaux and other stars on the team, he would give insight into his first impressions of Harbaugh.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Thibodeaux would call Harbaugh a “maniac” in the flattering sense when it comes to football, explaining how he resembles himself.

“He’s kind of like me,” Thibodeaux said, via SNY Giants. “I call a maniac a guy, when you ask him a question, and he goes to answer it, and then he gets that twitch. That twitch is when they just go rogue, and they just keep talking and talking and talking, and that’s me. I kind of got that a little bit. It’s first day, I noticed that in him…I can tell he loves a sport, and he’s gonna give us our best opportunity.”

Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux on why John Harbaugh is a “maniac”

With the Giants heading into the season under Harbaugh for the first season, there are a lot of expectations attached to the team, with the hope that the coach could instill a culture. Thibodeaux speaks about that and how “this is the best I felt coming into a new year.”

“I subscribe to the idea that if you got two brothers fighting, you make them fight, and then they got to go clean the s*** up after, you don’t just call it a day, and everybody’s done. And for me, like, I appreciate that mindset, like, no matter what is going on, we’re still gonna get the work done, because the work is the work, so as far as Coach Harbaugh, I think he’s a maniac, he’s obsessed. I love it. He’s so great at explaining things,” Thibodeaux said.

At any rate, it remains to be seen how Harbaugh’s first season with New York goes as Week 1 is on Sept. 13 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants are looking to improve after finishing 4-13 last season.
