Giants add Day 2 Jaxson Dart weapon after missing Jordyn Tyson in Round 1
The New York Giants missed out on Jordyn Tyson in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but they made sure to give Jaxson Dart one more weapon by adding Malachi Fields on Day 2. Fields was a wideout at Notre Dame, known for his large frame and wide catch radius. He could form a great duo with Malik Nabers, combining quickness and strength. Fields was a name on New York’s radar, given that they traded up with the Cleveland Browns to nab him, according to Jordan Schultz via X, formerly Twitter.
The Giants now have plenty of firepower in their offense for Dart to work with. Cam Skateboo will return this season at full health, with Nabers and Fields giving him two options on the outside. Fields may not have the starpower or ceiling of Tyson, but it still could be a scary offense.
Fields’ senior season at Notre Dame didn’t go as planned, but the fit was as much of a problem as anything. The Giants could be looking at his back-to-back 800+ yard seasons at Virginia as a reason why he is worth the rise in the third round.
The Giants took Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa with their two picks in the Top-10 of the first round. Reese and Mauigoa were some surprising selections, as Nabers said on a Watch Party podcast with Micah Parsons, given that the Giants were looking for help with their skill positions on offense and in the secondary. However, the Giants made right on it on Day 2 by selecting a cornerback and a wide receiver.
