Felix Nmecha had put the four-time winners in front after just six minutes before they were pegged back.

Germany went on to secure a comfortable win, though, with four second-half goals adding gloss to the scoreline.

It came after Nmecha had won a penalty in first half stoppage-time which Kai Havertz converted to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Following the full-time whistle, Nmecha was seen huddling with members of the Curacao side along with teammate Jonathan Tah.

The 25-year-old has now revealed the group had joined together in prayer on the pitch.

Nmecha had been vocal about his Christian faith throughout his career.

When asked why he and Tah had stood in a circle with the Curacao players after the game, Nmecha explained: “In the game we are opponents, but after the game we are all Christians, we are all brothers.”

Nmecha added: “We just did a little prayer together because we are still very grateful.

“The result is, of course, nice for us, but we all believe that Jesus is glorified through the game. That’s why we came and prayed together.”
