Game of Thrones star reveals conversation with Triple H about potential WWE career

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, renowned for his imposing physique in entertainment and sports, his portrayal of the Mountain in Game of Thrones, and his strongman achievements, may have once considered a WWE career.

Apart from his acting and Strongman career, Björnsson is also a well-known member of the combat sports industry, having boxed a few times with a record of two wins and two draws. Recently speaking to Ross Tucker, Björnsson opened up about visiting Triple H in 2015 and potentially beginning his WWE career.

“At one point in my life, it crossed my mind, and… I flew to Tampa, met up with Triple H and the team and went to the office and spoke to them. It crossed my mind that they were trying to do WWE, but nothing came out of it. I think they saw that my mind was more into Strongman and… yeah, we spoke, but nothing of all of it,” the Icelandic actor said.

His tenure in Game of Thrones lasted from 2014 to 2019, while he visited Triple H in 2015. Following his visit, Björnsson also uploaded a picture on social media. “Truly honoured to be hosted by Triple H this weekend in Orlando. Got to see few matches in NXT,” he wrote. However, his visit did not lead to a career in WWE as Björnsson continued with his acting roles.

Over the years, he has been a part of several successful television shows and films, including The Northman and Masters of the Universe. He also continued participating in strongman competitions and even won the 2020 Arnold Strongman Classic and the 2018 World’s Strongest Man, as well as several more.
