Fresno State lands Rutgers center from transfer portal

Fresno State has been busy scouring the transfer portal for under-appreciated talents who could help the team return to the top of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).

The Bulldogs tallied a 13-19 record last season, including 7-13 in the MWC. While it was an improvement from their disastrous six-win campaign in 2024-2025, it was not a cause for celebration.

On Tuesday, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Fresno State has landed Baye Fall, who left Rutgers after one season. Fall is the eighth player who committed to the Bulldogs via the transfer portal.

Despite his size, the 6-foot-11 center from Senegal barely played for the Scarlet Knights. While a hand injury limited him to just nine games, he only averaged 5.1 minutes when he was healthy.

Fresno State will be Fall’s third team in three years after also having stops at Arkansas and Kansas State. He only played a combined 13 games with the two programs.

His resume is not too shabby, and he was recruited by big-time programs after high school, as noted by BarkBoard.com’s Jackson Moore.

“Fall was a four-star recruit out of high school. He ranked as the No. 29 overall recruit and No. 5 center of the 2023 class. He chose Arkansas over offers including Auburn, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, UCLA, USC, Memphis, and more. Fall was a McDonald’s All-American,” wrote Moore.

With a fresh start at Fresno State, Fall is hoping that he can finally carve out a consistent role under the system of coach Vance Walberg.

Aside from Fall, the Bulldogs also earned the commitments of Quentin Rhymes, Bradey Henige, Ross Candelino, KJ Perry, Dragos Lungu, and Brian Amuneke.
