Freddie Freeman joins Albert Pujols in MLB history with walk-off home run vs. Angels

Freddie Freeman was the hero Friday night with a walk-off home run to carry the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Los Angeles Angels 1-0. In the process, Freeman etched his place in MLB history, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

He equaled Albert Pujols and Andre Dawson for second on the most walk-off hits list (including playoffs) over the last 50 years with 20. David Ortiz has the most with 23. Pujols hit 12 career walk-off home runs. Frank Robinson is the all-time walk-off hits leader with 23.

Roberto Clemente, Tony Perez, and Dusty Baker have 21 walk-off hits.

It was the perfect closing act to a night that saw a masterful pitching performance by Roki Sasaki, who finished with 10 strikeouts.

Over the course of his career, Freeman has been one of the most clutch performers in baseball.

Freeman’s walk-off home run exploits date back to the 2024 and 2025 postseasons.

In the 2024 World Series, Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in Game 1 against the New York Yankees. That year, the Dodgers won the title in six games.

In 2025, Freeman made history by hitting two walk-off home runs in a World Series. It occurred during the historic 18-inning Game 3, and the Dodgers went on to win their second straight title in seven games over the Blue Jays.

Meanwhile, Freeman is batting .276 with 64 hits, 10 home runs, and 35 RBIs. The Dodgers are 41-23, leading the National League West Division, and have won seven out of their last ten games.

On Saturday, the Dodgers will play the second game of their three-game series against the Angels.
