France vs Morocco LIVE commentary: UK kick-off time, team news and referee for World Cup quarter-final clash

France take on Morocco in the first quarter-final of the 2026 World Cup tonight, and it’s live on talkSPORT.

Les Bleus are the clear favourites to win their third World Cup title after blowing almost everyone away so far.

They have scored at least three in every game, bar the last-16 tie against Paraguay.

That was much more of a struggle for France as they needed a Kylian Mbappe penalty to see off the South American side 1-0 in 38C heat.

Meanwhile, Morocco are looking to make back-to-back World Cup semi-finals.

In 2022, they were the story of the competition only to lose to France in the last four so will be looking for some revenge here.

France vs Morocco: Team news

France hope to have Aurelien Tchouameni back to come into midfield.

The Real Madrid star missed the win over Paraguay but is expected to be fit for this one.

That means Manu Kone would likely drop to the bench.

There is also a decision to be made on the left as Desire Doue came on as a substitute against Paraguay and won the penalty.

He was much sharper than Bradley Barcola, so Didier Deschamps might throw him in.

Morocco are almost certainly going to have to make a change up front.

Ismael Saibari limped off with a hamstring injury in the win over Canada, so Souifane Rahimi is poised to start.

Morocco will also hope to welcome back Crystal Palace’s Chadi Riad.

The referee for the match will be Facundo Tello of Argentina.

France vs Morocco: What has been said?

Mbappe has hit back at a Paraguayan politician after she made some sickening jibes about his origin.

Celeste Amarilla, of Paraguay’s Liberal Radical Party attacked Mbappe following France beating her country.

One of the remarks saw the senator compare Mbappe with a chimpanzee.

In response, he said: “Ms Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman, unworthy of your position.

“You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has shown such passion and honour throughout the tournament.

“Because of your thoughtlessness and your blatant racism, the whole world has already forgotten the historic journey and effort your players made during this World Cup.

“It is now overshadowed by an incompetent woman who is presenting the worst possible image of her country.

“I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world.”
