France have quickly established themselves as the team to beat at the 2026 World Cup, winning all five of their matches to date and have been very much the most impressive team across the entirety of the competition.

Didier Deschamps, in his last tournament as France manager, had his side stroll to a first place finish in Group I, defeating Senegal 3-1 in their opening match before 3-0 and 4-1 victories against Iraq and Norawy respectively.

A comfortable 3-0 victory over Sweden followed in their opening knockout stage match, before getting the better of a physical Paraguay side thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s second half penalty to see them into quarter finals for the fourth World Cup in succession.

Les Bleus are looking to become just the third country to ever reach three consecutive World Cup finals this summer, and are two wins away from becoming the first to do so since Brazil in 2002.

France are aiming to add a third start to their chest by lifting the World Cup trophy for the second time in three tournaments following their win over Croatia in the 2018 final, and looking to go one better than when they were defeated on penalties in the final by Argentina four years ago.

Morocco have become the first African nation to ever reach the quarter final stage on two occasions, having reached the last eight for the first time last time out in Qatar.

Mohamed Ouahbi’s side are another team who have impressed in this summer’s World Cup to date, and have continued their long running unbeaten streak to a staggering 34 games across all competitions ahead of their match against the World Cup favourites this summer.

The Atlas Lions were unlucky to finish second in Group C at the start of this tournament despite picking up seven points across the campaign, holding record five-time winners Brazil to a draw in their opening match before getting the better of both Scotland and Haiti.

The reigning African champions kicked off their knockout campaign in dramatic fashion, scoring a 91st minute equaliser against the Netherlands to take the tie to extra time, before triumphing on penalties.

Morocco then knocked out co-hosts Canada in the last 16, winning 3-0 courtesy of two late goals, to book their place in the last eight for the second time in successive tournaments.

The African champions will be out for revenge in Boston tonight after France were responsible for their fairy tale run to the semi finals of the 2022 World Cup coming to an end, losing 2-0 after having knocked both Spain and Portugal out in the previous rounds.

Tonight’s match will be the first meeting since that match in Qatar, which gives the French a 4-1 lead in the head-to-head between the two countries across their six matches, with Morocco’s only victory coming in the 1998 King Hassan II tournament in Casablanca, a warm up competition for the World Cup that summer, in which the hosts triumphed on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
