Flyers dunk on Pat McAfee after thrilling Game 6 OT win vs. Penguins

After former NFL punter and media pundit Pat McAfee boldly predicted “Sidney Crosby in 7,” the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-0 in a thrilling overtime Game 6.

Following the game, the Penguins trolled McAfee, directly responding to his prediction post from Apr. 25, 2026. They photoshopped an image of McAfee from after WrestleMania 42, where he is wearing a neck brace. However, instead of a referee shirt, he has a Penguins jersey on.

“DAHN AND AHT,” their caption read, riffing on how McAfee would say the phrase, “Down and out.”

Of course, McAfee is from Plum, Pennsylvania, which is only about a half hour away from Pittsburgh. It makes sense that he is a big Penguins fan.

He attended Plum High School before going to West Virginia for college. McAfee was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2009 NFL Draft and spent his entire eight-year NFL career with them.

The playoff series between the Flyers and Penguins was back-and-forth. Initially, it appeared to be a runaway, as Philadelphia went up 3-0 in the first three games.

However, the Penguins stormed back and won the next two games of the series and had a chance to push it to a Game 7 with a win on Apr. 29.

After three scoreless periods, the Flyers finally broke the tie in overtime to put the Penguins away. Cam York scored the lone goal of the game in overtime to seal Philadelphia’s ticket to Round 2.

Throughout the game, the Penguins had 10 more shots taken than their opponent. However, the Flyers had nearly 20 more hits throughout the game, and both teams had four penalty minutes.

This was a dramatic end to another Pennsylvania showdown. The Penguins will have to wait until next season to get their revenge on the Flyers.
