Florida State Seminoles’ turnaround continues with 18.9-PG transfer commit

UNC Asheville transfer Kameron Taylor committed to the Florida State Seminoles following a breakout 2025-26 season in the Big South.

The 6-foot-7 wing arrives after leading the conference with 18.9 points per game, earning First Team All-Big South honors. Over 32 games (30 starts), Taylor also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest while shooting 45.3% from the field. He was one of the most productive offensive players in the league, leading in points produced per game and playing more minutes than any other Big South player.

Taylor’s scoring profile is backed by volume and consistency. He reached double figures 15 times as a freshman and took his game to another level as a sophomore, scoring 20 points against NC State and 21 against High Point, while finishing in single digits just four times all season. He also excelled at drawing fouls, ranking second in the conference with 224 free-throw attempts and converting 157 of them, shooting 70.1% from the line.

His perimeter shooting remains an area for growth. Taylor shot between 28.1% and 28.9% from three-point range this season, though he showed improvement with 39 made threes on 139 attempts and shot 35% from deep in conference play. Over two college seasons, he has hit 26% from beyond the arc.

Before his ascension, Taylor averaged 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds as a freshman, earning Big South All-Freshman honors. In high school, he put up 24.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game and earned multiple honors, including All-State recognition.

Ranked No. 78 in On3’s transfer portal rankings, Taylor drew interest from programs such as Kansas, Indiana, Texas A&M, Michigan, and Louisville before choosing Florida State after an official visit.

He becomes the second portal addition for head coach Luke Loucks, joining Cincinnati transfer Shon Abaev. The duo addresses pressing needs after the Seminoles 18-15 season, with leading scorers Robert McCray and Chauncey Wiggins out of eligibility and Martin Somerville entering the portal. Taylor, who has two years of eligibility remaining, will likely play a central role alongside returning wing Lajae Jones as Florida State continues its roster overhaul.
