Fever’s Caitlin Clark drops honest self-assessment after quelling Storm
The Indiana Fever kicked down the door for their first home win of the 2026 season on Sunday, dispatching the Seattle Storm 89-78 behind a scorching performance from Caitlin Clark. The 24-year-old finished with 21 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in only 24 minutes while shooting 5-for-10 from the field, 2-for-4 from three-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.
After getting off on the wrong foot efficiency-wise through Indiana’s first three games, Clark righted the ship with her most controlled offensive performance of the season. Following the win, she credited her approach to staying patient and involving teammates rather than forcing shots.
“No reason to press. Get my teammates involved. Take what the defense gives me,” said Clark. “I thought I did a good job of getting to the line, so there’s probably no need to shoot a bunch of shots.”

The performance marked Clark’s 21st career double-double, moving her past Erlana Larkins for fifth-most in Fever franchise history despite playing only 57 career games. It was also her 12th career game with at least 20 points and 10 assists, extending her WNBA record. Clark has now opened the season with four straight games of 20 or more points and at least five assists, tying the longest such streak to begin a season in league history.
Indiana controlled the game early with a 15-0 first-quarter run and led 32-19 after the opening period. The Fever carried a 55-44 lead into halftime thanks to Clark’s 17 first-half points before Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham combined for 17 points in the third quarter to help stretch the advantage to 77-58 entering the fourth.
Mitchell and Cunningham each finished with 17 points, while Myisha Hines-Allen contributed eight points, six rebounds and four assists filling in for injured All-Star Aliyah Boston. Boston missed the first game of her WNBA career because of a lower right leg injury, ending a streak of 127 consecutive WNBA games played and 275 straight starts dating back to college.
Indiana also improved defensively after allowing 104 points in each of its first two home games. The Fever held Seattle to 35 percent shooting, limited the Storm frontcourt to 17 points and controlled the paint 50-30.
Natisha Hiedeman led Seattle with 19 points, while rookie Flau’jae Johnson added 14 points and six rebounds in her fourth WNBA appearance.
Next up, the Fever welcome the Portland Fire on Wednesday for the third game of their four-game homestand.
