Mendoza was the first overall pick from the 2026 NFL Draft. He was a superstar at Indiana, where he led the Hoosiers to their first National Championship in program history. Indiana defeated the Miami Hurricanes in the National Championship Game.
This is not the first crossover between the Raiders and Golden Knights this postseason. Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins also hyped up Golden Knights fans during the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was in attendance for Game 5 between the Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks.
Vegas has had an incredible playoff run to this point. They defeated the Utah Mammoth in the first round before dispatching the Ducks in round two, both in six games. In the Western Conference Finals, Vegas stunningly swept the Colorado Avalanche to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Golden Knights won Game 1 of the Final over the Hurricanes. They fell behind 2-0 early, but were able to mount an incredible comeback to claim victory. The roles were reversed in Game 2, as Vegas took a 2-0 lead that they eventually blew, losing in overtime to a Seth Jarvis power play marker.
The Golden Knights appeared to take the lead early in the second period. However, Mark Stone’s goal was overturned after replay review. The score remains 0-0 early in the middle frame.
