Fans shower USMNT’s Mauricio Pochettino with praise after 2-0 win over Australia

As the United States men’s national team beat Australia in their second game in Group D, 2-1, the fans made their presence known before, during, and after the game. With USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino even comparing the fanbase to Argentina’s, the fans would show love for Pochettino after the big win.

With the win over Australia, the USMNT punched their way to the knockout round, and even have a chance to win the group if Paraguay ties or beats Turkiye on Friday night. Speaking after the game in front of the fans, they would interrupt the interview with chants of the head coach’s last name.

“POCHETTINO, POCHETTINO, POCHETTINO!” the fans were chanting during his post-game interview with Fox Sports.

“POCHETTINO… POCHETTINO… POCHETTINO!”

It was a physical win for the United States over Australia, as the scoring started with the USMNT forcing Australia to do a own goal in the 11th minute, with Alex Freeman giving the team their second goal in the 43rd minute. Pochettino would say to Fox Sports how “amazing” the fans were, and how “fantastic” a game it was.

“Amazing, I was saying yesterday Argentina have amazing fans, but I think we are matching Argentina. It’s amazing, our fans. I am so happy for them,” Pochettino said.

“I think it was a fantastic game, again, very good first golf, I think we dominate the game again, a very tough, tough team,” Pochettino continued.

At any rate, the USMNT now prepares to take on Turkiye next Thursday, as it remains to be seen if the United States are winners of the group or not by then.
