Agni Chopra, a young prodigy who started his professional cricket career in India, has been rumoured to take part in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. The PSL 2026 auction is set to take place on Wednesday, February 11, where it was reported that Chopra had registered his name in the player list to take part in the Pakistani tournament.

Upon delving deep into the issue, with an aim to know the real truth, CricTracker had a keen eye on the rumour. After much research, it can be confirmed that Chopra has not registered himself as a player for the PSL 2026 auction, busting the myth going around in relation to his participation in the upcoming eight-team tournament. Hence, the story is absolutely fake.

"Fake and misleading reports are being circulated in my name regarding a tournament. I would like to clarify that I have not enrolled for the PSL. I remain fully focused on my cricket journey in the USA and my long-term career goals. I request everyone not to fall prey to misinformation," the cricketer wrote in his Instagram story.

A screenshot of the story was reshared by Anupama Chopra, a Bollywood personality who is also the mother of Agni.

Is Agni Chopra eligible to play in the PSL?

Chopra was born in Michigan, the United States of America, but later moved to India and began his cricketing journey in the circles of Mumbai. He also played alongside all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar in age-group cricket, but his senior-level journey began with Mizoram, where he featured for the side in the 2023-24 edition of the Ranji Trophy and smashed records with over 1000 runs in the season.

He also featured in the following edition and once again grabbed headlines with his swashbuckling display with the bat. However, right ahead of the subsequent domestic season, the youngster surprised everyone with a shock retirement from Indian cricket. He chose to hang up his boots in India and moved to the Americas once again, featuring for MI New York in Major League Cricket.

As rules have it, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow active Indian cricketers to take part in foreign T20 leagues. However, Chopra has already retired from Indian cricket, which makes him completely eligible to play in franchise-based T20 leagues across the globe, including the Pakistan Super League.
