Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois undercard struck by late chaos as heavyweight fight cancelled

Jared Anderson has been forced off the Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois undercard with a torn bicep.

The American had been due to box Britain’s Sol Dacres on May 9 at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester.

However, esteemed boxing journalist Chris Mannix revealed on Saturday night during the DAZN broadcast for Jarrell Miller vs Lenier Pero that the fight had been cancelled.

It marks the latest setback in a frustrating year and a half for ‘The Real Big Baby’.

Anderson entered 2024 as one of the most highly-touted heavyweight prospects, but his stock tumbled in August when he was blown away by Martin Bakole in eight rounds.

The 26-year-old has fought just once since then, beating the unheralded Marios Kallios on points last February.

Anderson was handed a golden opportunity to get his career back on track earlier this year by way of a co-promotional deal with Queensberry Promotions.

Frank Warren‘s outfit has the deepest heavyweight roster in the sport, opening the door to some massive fights for Anderson, who also remains under the Top Rank banner.

A matchup with former English champion Dacres looked to be the perfect fight to blow off the cobwebs.

But Anderson is now set for a lengthy stretch on the sidelines.

A torn bicep typically takes between three and four months to recover from, leaving Anderson with little time to make an impact in 2026.

It has yet to be confirmed whether Queensberry will find a new opponent for Dacres on less than two weeks’ notice.

Who else remains on the undercard?

The rest of the Wardley vs Dubois undercard remains unchanged.

Former British and Commonwealth super lightweight champion Jack Rafferty is set to move up to welterweight to take on Ekow Essuman, while Brad Rea and Liam Cameron lock horns in an intriguing domestic dust-up at light heavyweight.

Wales’ Gavin Gwynne will be hoping to halt the rise of another young, undefeated prospect as he takes on the Khaleel Majid after holding Cameron Vuong to a draw last November.

There are also spots on the bill for former WBC cruiserweight title challenger Mike Perez, 2025 World Amateur Championship gold medallist Javokhir Ummataliev, and promising Brit Ramtin Musah.

All of this before Wardley puts his WBO heavyweight title on the line against Dubois in the main event, live on DAZN.
