FA Cup third-round draw in full: Wrexham and non-league Macclesfield get Premier League ties as Manchester United host Brighton

Crystal Palace will begin their FA Cup defence against non-league side Macclesfield in this season’s third round.

The Eagles will travel to the National League North outfit as the holders following their historic win over Manchester City in May.

All 20 Premier League teams and 24 Championship sides have entered the fray as they begin their quest to take home English football’s most storied cup.

Wrexham, who now ply their trade in the second tier, will entertain Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.

National League side Boreham Wood will face League One outfit Burton Albion after they beat Brackley Town 3-1 on Monday night.

Weston-super-Mare have been rewarded with a trip to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Premier League Arsenal will travel to Portsmouth, who they faced in the 2019/20 FA Cup, with Chelsea heading to Charlton Athletic.

Newcastle United are at home to Bournemouth, with Eddie Howe coming up against his former side.

Mark Robins is also set for his own FA Cup derby as he hosts Coventry City, now managed by Frank Lampard.

Last season’s runners-up City welcome Exeter City, with Manchester United at home to Premier League rivals Brighton.

All third round fixtures are expected to fall on the weekend of January 10 and 11, although some may fall either shortly before or after those dates.

The victorious teams will then contest the fourth round just over a month later on the weekend of February 14 and 15.

All matches that end in a draw will go to extra-time to decide the winner after replays were scrapped.

This has been in place since the first round of the competition.

I means Macclesfield won’t be able to make a trip to Selhurst Park for a huge day out should they draw against Palace.

However, given the history of the FA Cup, there is no certainty that the holders will progress.

The final will be played at Wembley Stadium on May 16.
