Ex-NFL safety Tyrann Mathieu goes full NSFW on fan over Brendan Sorsby joke

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby will suit up in the upcoming season after a local court granted him an injunction against the NCAA, making him eligible despite being embroiled in a gambling case.

Earlier this month, the NCAA denied Texas Tech’s appeal to reinstate Sorby, who admitted to placing over $90,000 in bets in four years on his own teams. He played for Indiana and Cincinnati before moving to Texas Tech for a fifth season.

Following the development, former NFL safety Tyrann Mathieu jokingly asked if he could still return to LSU since he has two years left in his eligibility.

The humor, however, flew over the head of a fan, who blasted Mathieu.

“Grown a** f****** 34-year-old man trying to return to play against 17-23-year-olds. OK, bro,” said the fan on X.

Mathieu matched the energy with his own expletive-laced response.

“Your brain doesn’t work. You clearly missed the joke. What a dumb f***, commented the three-time All-Pro First Team member.

Many have expressed their bewilderment over the eligibility rules in the NCAA, with some athletes being allowed to return to college despite already having experience on the professional level.

While Sorby’s is a different case, Mathieu, who won a ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, still probably felt that it was unfair to allow the 22-year-old signal-caller to play for the Red Raiders, given his gambling issue.

As a sanction, he was suspended for the first two games.

The local court cited mental health as a major factor in awarding Sorsby the injunction.

“This court finds that applicant has demonstrated that he will suffer a probable, imminent, and irreparable injury if this court does not issue this temporary injunction,” read a part of the statement.

Sorsby, who was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, checked into a rehabilitation facility in April.
