European giants make late attempt to hijack Andy Robertson’s move to Tottenham

Juventus have launched a move to sign Andy Robertson, talkSPORT understands.

The Italian giants could hijack Tottenham’s bid to sign the Liverpool left-back.

Robertson will leave the Reds when his contract expires at the end of June.

Although he has an agreement in principle to join Spurs, nothing has been signed as of yet.

This has left the door open to Juventus to potentially secure his services.

The Serie A side have held talks over a potential transfer and are now weighing up whether to make a formal offer.

Spurs deal in place

It comes despite Spurs having a deal in place to sign Robertson since the end of the January transfer window.

However, their agreement was subject to the club avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

A similar deal is also in place for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.

Liverpool had previously shown an interest in the Argentinian, who has agreed personal terms with Spurs.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side clinched their top-flight survival on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Everton.

The result was enough to finish two points above the relegation zone at the expense of West Ham United.

Due to their 17th place finish, though, Spurs will not be playing in Europe next season.

In contrast, Juventus secured Europa League football with a sixth place finish in Serie A.

Robertson leaves Liverpool

Robertson has spent nine years at Anfield after joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017.

During his time with the club, the Scotland captain has made a total of 378 appearances across all competitions.

Of those, 24 came in the Premier League this season as the Reds finished fifth in the table.

His final appearance came at home to Brentford on the final day of the season.

Arne Slot’s side played out a 1-1 draw, with Curtis Jones’ opener cancelled out by Kevin Schade.

Robertson has also won nine trophies with Liverpool, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
