ESPN’s Matt Miller’s car crash video released

Dashcam video of Matt Miller’s car accident last month in Missouri has been released.

In the video obtained by The California Post, the ESPN Draft analyst’s Ford Bronco seems to be slightly swaying to the middle across a double-yellow line on a two-lane road. Once Miller’s car and the semi truck met on impact, it veered into an open grass field.

According to The Post, Miller was ejected during the crash despite wearing a seatbelt, per Missouri State Highway Patrol officials. The law enforcement officials wrote that a factor in the crash was “improper lane usage/change” by Miller. It is listed as unknown at this time if marijuana or alcohol played a role in the crash on Miller’s part, but the truck driver was not under the influence of alcohol or marijuana according to police.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash, but Miller suffered several injuries including “a compound fracture of his left femur, a shattered left kneecap,” and “multiple broken ribs.” He also lost a lot of blood and had his left arm amputated.

The outlet also shared photos of the crash, which showed the front of Miller’s car destroyed. A witness on the site described the scene as “horrific.”

Is Matt Miller still at ESPN?

He has since spoken out following the crash and also gave an update on where he stands with his employer.

“A quick update: The surgery to remove my left arm was successful with hopes of an eventual prosthetic replacement,” Miller said on Friday, July 10. “Similarly, the femur and patella surgeries were also successful and the fantastic surgery team was able to save my left leg. To best focus on my healing and recovery, I’m stepping away indefinitely and will be placed on leave from ESPN. Thank you to all for the prayers and thoughts; please keep them coming.”

While Miller takes his time to recover, another battle lies ahead as the Missouri attorney general’s office has placed him under investigation for alleged past financial improprieties. Miller, who also works for Awful Announcing, had online backlash from individuals who claim they have not received payments for fantasy football leagues, football camps and scouting lessons that have ties to the ESPN analyst.

“The Missouri Attorney General’s Office encourages consumers who believe they have been misled to contact us,” the office said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. “Attorney General Hanaway takes consumer protection very seriously, and we will work diligently to uncover the facts.”

Miller joined ESPN in 2022 after a career of over a decade with Bleacher Report from 2010 to 2021 as an NFL Draft writer.

He has not yet responded to the allegations at this time.
