Eddie Hall releases gruelling sparring footage with Johnny Fisher ahead of Tommy Fury fight

Eddie Hall is leaving no stone unturned ahead of his upcoming clash with Tommy Fury.

The former World’s Strongest Man winner locks horns with Fury on June 13 in Manchester in a Misfits Boxing event billed as ‘Beauty vs the Beast’.

There is a staggering 130lbs weight disparity between the two men, with Hall tipping the scales at 334lbs for his recent MMA bout with strongman rival Mariusz Pudzianowski, and Fury expected to weigh a shade over 200lbs.

Misfits have chosen not to implement a weight limit to level the playing field for Hall, who has only boxed once, losing to ‘The Mountain’ Hafthor Bjornsson in 2022.

By contrast, Fury has boxed 12 times as an amateur and is 11-0 as a professional.

To prepare himself for the step up in class, Hall has been sparring 14-1 British heavyweight Johnny Fisher.

The pair shared six rounds last week, and Hall has now released a 45-second clip of the sparring session on his social media.

The gulf in class is clear from the video, with Fisher repeatedly snapping back Hall’s head with sharp shots.

But to his credit, Hall trudges forward undeterred and even lands a few pot shots of his own.

During a recent interview with Playbook Boxing, Fisher gave his take on the spar and Hall’s next assignment.

“I sparred with Eddie four or five years ago, just after I fought at the O2 in my first fight in front of a crowd after COVID, and I saw a lot of improvements when I sparred with him a few days ago,” he said.

“He’s shredded down a little bit, and trust me, if that guy hits you on the chin or you get close to him, you don’t want to be grappling with Eddie Hall, the World’s Strongest Man winner.

“It’s a fight where Tommy Fury has to be sensible, stay away, keep jabbing and keep the work rate high from the outside.

“But it’s another entertaining fight. I know it’s a completely off-the-tangent fight we didn’t see coming, and it’s a Misfits fight.

“But it’s still one that I am thinking, hang on, it’s not like I’m watching Jake Paul and KSI, I’m actually quite interested in this.

“Tommy Fury is from a boxing background, and he has beaten both of those guys.

“And Eddie Hall, I am a fan of him, and he’s got a good little set-up.”

When is Johnny Fisher fighting next?

Fisher is currently rebuilding his career following a devastating knockout loss to Dave Allen last May.

He returned to winning ways in a hard-fought stoppage win over the previously undefeated Ivan Balaz at the back end of last year and is expected to return to the ring in either June or July.
