Duncan Robinson drops harsh claim on Pistons’ Game 7 form vs Cavs

Duncan Robinson was brutally honest about his thoughts on how the Detroit Pistons performed in their season-ending loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the East Semifinals on Sunday night.

Robinson completed the eighth season of his NBA career, his first with the Pistons. He provided valuable shooting and playoff experience as he played a solid role in giving Detroit its best season since 2008.

They came back from a 3-1 series deficit in the first round against the Orlando Magic and pushed the Cavaliers to seven games in the semifinals. However, they suffered a blowout loss in Game 7 as it officially ends their playoff run.

Robinson reflected on the defeat after the game, per reporter Omari Sankofa II. The veteran shooter understood that the team didn’t emphasize the areas it excelled in, paving the way for them to lose in a blowout.

“I don’t want to be over-reactionary having not watched it … we didn’t come out with the right disposition for a Game 7 and that was apparent in all the areas we prided ourselves on this year, areas we thought we could compete with and win, we didn’t win those,” Robinson said.

How Duncan Robinson, Pistons played against Cavaliers

Duncan Robinson and the Pistons will have disappointment after being unable to defend homecourt in Game 7 against the Cavaliers. However, fans will be proud of the immense growth the franchise has made within the last three years.

Four players scored in double-digits for Detroit in the loss, including Robinson. He finished with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. Daniss Jenkins led the team with 17 points and five assists, Cade Cunningham had 13 points and five assists, while Caris LeVert provided 11 points and two rebounds.

The Pistons now enter the offseason with questions to answer and issues to resolve. They made significant progress by achieving a 60-win campaign and their first playoff series win since 2008, but the goal for a championship requires them to make moves for the better this summer.
