Dodgers’ Justin Wrobleski opens up about strike-less showing vs. Cardinals

To say the Los Angeles Dodgers’ series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals was an interesting game would be an understatement.

The Dodgers scored four runs but didn’t hit a home run for the sixth game in a row. Justin Wrobleski kept his scoreless streak going as a starter, but somehow didn’t record a single K over 83 pitches.

Discussing his unique outing at Busch Field and how it feels to keep winning in unconventional ways, Wrobo told reporters that he isn’t concerned with his lack of strikeouts in 2025, as he knows they will come along over the course of the long season.

“Yeah, I think it’s just a matter of, you know, I’m out there trying to get outs, and however I get them, that’s great,” Wrobleski said. “I think the strikeouts will come, I mean, I was, I struck out people last year, it’s not, it’s not something that’s, you know, crazy, like of worry for me. And I’m never going to give back six zeroes, and you know, however I need to do it, I’ll do it, and hopefully just keep rolling.”

Asked how he’s been able to force so much soft contact to batters, Wrobleski noted that he’s feeling good about his process at the moment and knows he will continue to improve.

“Yeah, I think I’m doing a good job of, again, like I said, it’s just like understanding who I am, understanding, you know, again, understanding the game and where we’re at, understanding the hitter situation,” Wrobleski said. “I think, again, you know, Rush and I did a good job navigating that today, and it’s just, you know, it’s a culmination of a lot of things and a lot of stuff we’ve been working on, and just continuing to kind of harp on those things that make me good, I guess.”

With Blake Snell set to return this month, the Dodgers will soon have a very interesting decision to make regarding their starting pitching rotation, unless, of course, Dave Roberts decides to take things to a ridiculous extreme and run a seven-man platoon. Assuming he remains consistent with six, it’s hard to imagine Wrobo being the odd man out, as at this point, he’s one of the best statistical pitchers in baseball, even if he gets it done in unconventional ways.
