Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman did not stutter about Andy Pages’ GOAT at-bat vs. Mason Miller

The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 5-4 victory over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. It was a ninth-inning run that gave the Dodgers the lead and sent Padres closer Mason Miller to his first loss of the season.

The game-winning run was driven in on a sacrifice fly by Andy Pages that drove in Alex Call. After the game, Dodgers star Freddie Freeman had a definitive statement about the at-bat against Miller,  per Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“One of the greatest at-bats I’ve ever seen in person,” Freeman said.

It was an impressive at-bat that was set up by Max Muncy. After Miller got the first out of the inning, Muncy came to the plate. He took a 3-2 pitch that was initially called a strike. Muncy challenged the call and won, sending him to first base. Call would pinch run for Muncy, and a pick off error by Miller got Call to third.

That is when Pages came to the plate. He fouled off the first two pitches of the at-bat before taking a ball on pitch three. After another foul ball, he took a pitch that was in the dirt. Still, with the count at 2-2, Pages was in a precarious situation. He fouled off a fast ball and then two sliders. On the ninth pitch of the inning, a fastball high and outside the zone was connected with, leading to the sacrifice fly.

Will Klein entered the game for the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth, needing just ten pitches to record his first save of the year.

The Dodgers are now 30-19 on the year, and in first place in the NL West. They finish their three-game set with the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
