Dodgers’ Dave Roberts makes lineup change vs. Giants amid recent struggles

The Los Angeles Dodgers feature the best overall roster in baseball. The lineup, however, has scored just one run through the first two games of the Dodgers’ series against the San Francisco Giants. Kyle Tucker is among the Dodgers players who are struggling at the moment, and manager Dave Roberts made a lineup change that could potentially get him going on Thursday, via Bill Shaikin.

Tucker will hit fourth on Thursday in San Francisco with Freddie Freeman moving to the second spot in the lineup. Sometimes all a player needs is a change to get back on track.

Tucker signed with the Dodgers during the offseason. It was one of the biggest signings of MLB free agency. So far in 2026, though, the outfielder is hitting just .233/.320/.356 across 23 games played. He has hit three home runs, but his overall numbers are not where he expects them to be.

Overall, the offense has struggled against the Giants. However, Los Angeles’ lineup has been fine for most of the season. The ball club leads the league in home runs, batting average and OPS. They are fourth in runs scored and third in total hits.

The Dodgers’ depth has especially stepped up, as a number of star players have yet to meet their lofty expectations. Mookie Betts is also currently out due to an injury.

Los Angeles trails San Francisco 2-0 in their three-game series. The Dodgers will look to earn a victory and avoid a sweep on Thursday afternoon in San Francisco at 12:45 PM EST.
