Dodgers’ Dave Roberts explains attention-grabbing Teoscar Hernandez decision vs. Giants
With Shohei Ohtani only pitching and not hitting on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants, Teoscar Hernandez is set to DH. Hernandez is hiding sixth as well. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained the decision to have he veteran move around the lineup amid his struggles at the plate, via Dodgers Nation.
“The track record of the back of the baseball card deserves that. It’s a long season, as long as the work stays consistent, I’m willing to bet on the results,” Roberts said.
Hernandez is hitting .241/.320/.368 across 37 games played. He has also hit four home runs during that span. The Dodgers still believe in him. They are not going to give up on Hernandez anytime soon.
“Last night wasn’t great, a couple nights ago, all the AB’s were good,” Roberts added while discussing Hernandez’s performance. “We are at our best if Teo is up a little higher but you’ve got to earn that right.”
Hernandez has been one of the better Dodgers over the years. There is no reason to give up on Hernandez. He will likely bounce back. However, LA needs offensive production as soon as possible. The lineup has struggled over the past week.
The offense is more than capable of bouncing back, but the team is in a slump at the moment.
