Dodgers’ Blake Snell shares crucial update after injury rehab start

The Los Angeles Dodgers have played well for the most part this season despite losing back-to-back games to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday and Wednesday. While some players are struggling, Los Angeles looks like a World Series contender overall once again. They could be getting more help fairly soon, as Blake Snell recently started an injury rehab assignment as he recovers from a shoulder concern. Snell shared an update after his first injury rehab start, via Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“Blake Snell came out well from his first rehab start, he said. Threw one-plus innings, 32 total pitches. Goal is to get him to five innings/75 pitches before he’s active. He’ll make another start sometime next week,” Woo reported.

He still likely has a couple of rehab starts to make before he will reach that 75-pitch mark. Nevertheless, the fact that he has started his rehab assignment is encouraging without question.

The 33-year-old southpaw only pitched in 11 regular season games in his first season with the Dodgers last year, but he recorded a stellar 2.35 ERA during that span. In the postseason, Snell pitched to a 3.18 ERA in six total appearances while helping the ball club win its second consecutive World Series.

The Dodgers pitching has performed well, but they certainly will not complain about Blake Snell’s return whenever it does happen. According to Woo, his next rehab start will happen next week at some point. The Dodgers will continue to monitor and provide updates on Snell’s injury status as they are made available.
