Did Kevin Garnett just pinpoint next Victor Wembanyama with ‘Martian’ mic drop?
As NBA legend and former Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett has spoken about San Antonio Spurs sensation Victor Wembanyama before, this latest time could be seen with much interest. While people have focused on Garnett calling out Wembanyama for a myriad of ways, this time, his latest post on X, formerly Twitter, would seem he’s comparing a prospect to the player.
There’s no denying that if a player is earning Wembanyama comparisons, they will be a player to look out for. But it could also be a coincidence with the nickname he has given the No.1-ranked high school basketball player, Marcus Spears Jr., son of former NFL player, Marcus Spears.
As the original post by Marcus Sloan mentioned that “nobody else at this size is doing this,” attached to a video of Spears’ highlight plays, Garnett would give a nickname that could be similar to Wembanyama’s “Alien.”
“Martian,” Garnett wrote on X, formerly Twitter, with the eyes looking to the side emoji.

Playing for Dynamic Prep in Dallas, Texas, Spears is a five-star prospect who is looking to take the sport by storm, as Adam Finkelstein at 247 Sports said that he is a “lefty forward loaded with versatile long-term tools.” He stands at a six-foot, nine-inch frame, weighs 210 pounds, and is listed as a power forward.
In the class of 2027, he reportedly has warm interest in schools such as the University of Texas and LSU, per 247 Sports. At any rate, it remains to be seen where Spears’ career goes in the future.
