Did AEW’s Mercedes Moné cryptically tease return is coming ‘soon’?

Despite missing the latest AEW PPV, Dynasty, former TBS Champion Mercedes Moné (formerly Sasha Banks in WWE) teased that her next move — potentially her return — is coming “soon.”

Hours before Dynasty, Moné cryptically posted a GIF that showed a man smirking with the word “soon” written over it, indicating that something was in the works.

Fans began speculating in the comments section of her post. One wrote, “WE GETTING THAT AEW WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIPPPP,” while another said, “THE CEO IS BACK,” with a clip of a woman excitedly dancing.

When will Mercedes Moné return to AEW?

Perhaps Moné’s tease is setting up her return to AEW. Her last match in the promotion took place on Dec. 31, 2025, during their “New Year’s Smash” edition of Dynamite.

During the show, she lost the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale. This ended her record-setting reign as champion after 584 days.

Since losing the TBS Championship, Moné has appeared in various other promotions. She has been losing various championships, including the Bestya Women’s Title, the PTW Women’s Title, and the WPW Women’s Title, in different wrestling promotions.

In 2024, Moné joined AEW. She first teased signing with them while appearing as an audience member at All In. She made her debut on Mar. 13, 2024, during an episode of Dynamite.

At Double or Nothing in May 2024, she beat Nightingale to win the TBS Championship. She had several successful title defenses before dropping the belt back to Nightingale in 2025.

Before her AEW run, Moné was best known for her time in WWE as Sasha Banks. During her time on the main roster, Banks won six world championships. She was also a three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion (winning the title twice with Bayley and once with Naomi).

She would end up walking out of WWE alongside Naomi, who has since returned to the company, in 2022. This came shortly after WrestleMania 38. She then joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and World Wonder Ring Stardom after her WWE departure.
