Dianna Russini joked about marriage woes 2 months before Mike Vrabel rumors

Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel have debunked the affair rumors, but resurfaced quotes from The Athletic reporter are coming to light, where she joked about her marriage.

While Russini was covering the Super Bowl, she made an appearance on Stugotz and Company, where she joked about ending her marriage to Kevin Goldschmidt.

“We’re getting divorced at the end of the year,” Russini joked, adding, “we’re going through it.”

She then added more of an explanation as she described how their marriage is at the moment.

“He doesn’t even know who I am right now…we’ve never been more disconnected in our lives,” Russini continued. “Our text messages look like two robots,” she added.

In the episode, she also said her mother made a joke that “lets me know my marriage is falling apart,” noting that she thinks the Shake Shack executive “got a girlfriend.”

Russini told her mom, “I go, ‘Why would you say that to me right now while I’m on a trip? That my husband has a girlfriend.”

“There’s nothing I can do and yet she’s out here throwing things at my head,” she continued. “Now I’m wondering, ‘Ugh, one girl in his office is really pretty. It would make sense.’ ”

Russini then joked that she had “a lot of work to do” on her marriage once she made it home from the Super Bowl, which took place in San Francisco where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13.

This follows another clip where Russini in 2021 referred to her husband as “average.”

While these quotes from the former ESPN anchor are resurfacing amid the Vrabel controversy, they both have denied that the images that surfaced between the two at a luxury resort are wrongly depicted.

“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.” Russini reportedly said per The Daily Mail.

Vrabel, who is the head coach of the New England Patriots, also responded to the images in agreement with Russini.

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response.” Vrabel reportedly said per The Daily Mail.

Russini is currently employed at The Athletic, where she is a senior NFL insider, and they also shared a statement about the photos.

“These photos are misleading and lack essential context,” Steven Ginsberg, executive editor of The Athletic, told the Post. “These were public interactions in front of many people. Dianna is a premier journalist covering the NFL and we’re proud to have her at The Athletic.”

Vrabel has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999. As for Russini, she married her husband, Goldschmidt, in 2020.
