Diamondbacks’ Zac Gallen hits booing fans with ‘ironic’ dig after Twins disaster
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen has had his share of setbacks the last few years. Gallen suffered through yet another tough outing on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Gallen was booed by Arizona fans as he was taken out of the game after four innings.
Gallen expressed his views on the fans after the game. Arizona ended up losing to Minnesota, 16-8.
“It is what it is. They paid to come here and they’re unsatisfied. I think it’s ironic when they boo players, because the player is probably the most unsatisfied with themselves,” Gallen said, per AZ Sports.
Gallen allowed 12 hits in those four innings, as well as nine earned runs. His Diamondbacks dropped to 39-37 on the campaign. Arizona is 5-5 overall in their last 10 games.
Diamondbacks are struggling right now to stay healthy

Arizona has been battered by injuries in recent weeks. This team just got more bad news, as outfielder Jordan Lawlar just went down on Friday.
“It’s been brutal,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said, per MLB.com. “I’m not going to lie. We’re gonna try to get everybody healthy. We’re going to try to get everybody back on their feet. It’s going to be a little bit of a longer process for some. It’s been a tough 24 to 48 hours for this ballclub, but we know that we have to budget for very hard days.”
Right-handed pitcher Michael Soroka is another player out hurt. He and Lawlar were just added to the injured list. These are tough blows to an Arizona team that is still fighting tooth and nail to post a winning season.
Gallen is a player the team looks to for leadership. The Diamondbacks hurler has a 6.10 ERA on the season in 16 starts. Gallen has a 3-6 record on the year.
Arizona plays the Twins again on Sunday.
