Defeated Champions League manager told not to answer Beckham question in press conference
When Pafos manager Albert Celades walked into his post-match press conference, he wasn’t expecting a question about a former teammate.
But that’s exactly what transpired, as one reporter bravely asked whether Celades had kept up with the saga surrounding Brooklyn Beckham and his dad David Beckham, who the Spaniard played alongside at Real Madrid.

Following Pafos’ 1-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in the Champions League, which was Celades’ third game in charge of the Cypriot club, a reporter said: “I’ve got a bit of a cheeky question.
“You obviously played for some time with David Beckham at Real Madrid. Have you been following his saga? And what are your thoughts on it?”
Celades, evidently caught off-guard by the question, replied: “What is this saga?”
However, Pafos’ media officer quickly shut down the line of questioning.
“No, don’t answer that question,” the media officer said.
“I think the question is not relevant to Pafos FC. I’m sorry.”
Despite Celades not understanding the reporter’s question, he briefly waxed lyrical on playing with Beckham at the Spanish giants.
“I have a good memory of him because we spent time together and he was an amazing professional and very good player of course,” Celades said.
Although Celades remembers Beckham for his wizardry on the pitch, it is an off-field saga involving the Manchester United legend that has sparked headlines.
Beckham and his wife, Victoria, were accused by Brooklyn of trying to control his life.

The eldest Beckham child added his mum hijacked his wedding day in April 2022 by ‘very inappropriately’ dancing on him.
Brooklyn also stated his wife, American actress and heiress Nicola Peltz, had been ‘constantly disrespected’ by his family, who he ‘does not want to reconcile’ with.
Danny Murphy: I find it sad
Despite Brooklyn’s desire to remain estranged from his family, Danny Murphy, who played alongside Beckham for England, believes both sides will eventually mend their broken relationship.
“I’m not a big believer in blood is thicker than water and you have this loyal obligation to stay close to your family, just because they’re your family,” Murphy said on White and Jordan on Wednesday.
“If they don’t behave well or you feel like they’ve mistreated you, then fine.
“I find it sad really, being a father myself, if I was ever in a position where that happened to me, it just makes me feel sad.

“Hopefully I’ll never be in that position. You can never say never, of course.
“Any breakdown of a parent and a child is a bad thing to hear and for it to be played out in the public domain, it’s horrible for everybody involved, irrelevant of who’s more guilty than the other.
“My own belief is that there will come a time where they’ll reconcile and have an adult conversation.”
