De’Aaron Fox is questionable for Spurs-Timberwolves Game 5
De’Aaron Fox and the San Antonio Spurs missed out on a chance to go up 3-1 in their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they lost to Anthony Edwards and company on Sunday at Target Center in Minneapolis, 114-109.
The Spurs are back home for the pivotal Game 5 of the series on Tuesday, but there is a possibility that they will be without one of their key players, as Fox has been listed as questionable on the NBA’s official injury report.
The former Kentucky Wildcats guard has left ankle soreness, according to the report.
Fox apparently sustained the injury when Timberwolves guard Ayo Dosunmu tried to go after a loose ball in the second half of Game 4. The Spurs guard was replaced in the game, but later returned and finished the contest. He racked up a total of 24 points on 8-for-23 shooting from the field, 1-for-7 from behind the arc and 7-for-10 from the foul line to go along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 37 minutes of action.
It does not seem that Fox’s injury is of a serious nature, so it’s fair to expect him to suit up and play in Game 5 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, where the Spurs split the first two games of the series.
So far in the series, Fox is averaging 16.8 points on just 37.9 percent shooting from the floor, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds. It hasn’t been a fantastic individual series for Fox, but the Spurs definitely need him on the floor to stave off the Timberwolves, who are not going away easily.
