Dave Roberts announces troubling Tyler Glasnow injury update after Dodgers’ roster move
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been dealing with injuries this season, as the club looks to win a third consecutive World Series. Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow has been dealing with back spasms. Manager Dave Roberts is giving a discouraging injury update about his hurler.
“Dave Roberts said Tyler Glasnow, who was just transferred to the 60-day IL, is not throwing at the moment. Still waiting on clearance to start a progression,” The Athletic reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Glasnow has had back issues dating back to May. He is one of several Dodgers pitchers who has battled injuries this season.
“We talked to Tyler, and we just felt it was the right thing to do. It was smart,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said in May, per MLB.com, when Glasnow was placed on the injured list. “Probably could’ve tried to pitch through it. But it’s early, and to be prudent, to be smart, play the game, Tyler was completely on board with that.”
This season, the Dodgers hurler has a 2.72 ERA in seven starts. Glasnow also has three victories. He hasn’t pitched for the team since May 6.
“He has had previous back issues, going on the IL with back tightness in 2024 and getting scratched from a start in Baltimore for the same reason last September. In the past, the 6-foot-8 Glasnow has described these recurring pains as “random tall-guy back spasms,” MLB.com reported.
The Dodgers haven’t missed a step, despite not having Glasnow. Los Angeles sits in first in the National League West this season. The Dodgers hold a 42-23 record on the campaign.
Los Angeles looks to sweep the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
