After a sensational career, the 41-year-old is most likely coming to the end of his tenure as a footballer.

He still delivers on the pitch for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, having scored 20 goals this season.

On Thursday, it was announced that Ronaldo has bought a 25 per cent share of Almeria through his own company, CR7 Investments.

The Portugal sensation said: “It has been a longtime ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch.

“Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth.”

talkSPORT understands Al Nassr are keen for Ronaldo to invest in them, too.

Dream job

The ex-Manchester United superstar has hinted before about becoming the owner of a ‘big club’ as his next career venture, as opposed to becoming a manager.

In 2024, he said: “It will depend on the moment, the right opportunity.

“I’m still very young, I have so many plans and dreams ahead.

“But mark my words, I will be the owner of a big club. For sure.”

Almeria currently play in the second division in Spain and have a stadium capacity of 17,400.

They currently sit third in the league and are two points away from first, with clear ambition to be promoted this season.

The club have been outside of La Liga since the 2023/24 season.

Almeria have been owned by a Saudi Arabian group for over six years with Mohammed Al-Khereiji who assumed ownership and presidency of the club last summer.

Al-Khereiji was happy with the investment and said: “We are very pleased that Cristiano has chosen our club to invest in.

“He knows the Spanish leagues very well and he understands the potential of what we are building here both in terms of the team and the academy.”
