Crissy Froyd continues to blast Dianna Russini following her own firing

Crissy Froyd is not backing down from her comments on Dianna Russini.

The former The Athletic NFL insider and reporter resigned from her role at the organization following photos of her and New York Giants’ Mike Vrabel in Arizona.

“I’m sure you were told to submit this or that you’d get fired instead. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” Froyd wrote via X in response to Russini’s resignation letter.

Froyd continued to rip into Russini and how it affects women in sports journalism.

“We know who you really are and what you’ve been up to for years,” she added. “It does so much detriment to women in sports who have done things the right way.”

The comments landed with Froyd being let go from her role as a sports reporter from USA Today, and in a new statement to Page Six, she shared that she does not regret what she said about Russini.

“I want to say firstly that I do not regret anything that I said and that I stand behind the fact it is all indeed true,” Froyd told the outlet in a statement on Thursday (April 16).

She instead thanked her former employer for the opportunity and said she was aware that being fired would be a possibility and “would never say anything [she] didn’t stand behind.”

“I want to thank USA TODAY SMG for the incredible run I had there for about half of my life. It is deeply, deeply emotional to me that this relationship has come to an end and that my contract has been terminated because of this.”

“Even if a situation seems risky,” she added. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me both before and after I released my statements.”

In turn, she shared how while the future of her career is unknown she wants people to use their voices for causes they believe in.

“Regardless of what happens to me in the future, I want to say something. Do not be afraid to potentially martyr yourself for the right causes,” she said.

“I put myself out there in some respects in a way that was highly uncomfortable to me, but I thought it was worth doing.”

Following the photos being leaked, Russini and Vrabel denied the allegations.

While the former reporter has resigned from her role, Vrabel is still employed by the Giants and has not spoken out additionally amid the affair rumors.
