Mikel Arteta’s men have beaten Athletic Club, Olympiacos, Atletico Madrid, Slavia Prague and Bayern Munich, conceding just one goal.

They can take a giant leap towards the last 16 with victory away to a Club Brugge side who have just one win to their name.

The Belgian side beat Monaco 4-1 in their opening match and despite going winless since, they held Barcelona to a 3-3 draw last month.

Club Brugge and Arsenal will play against each other for the first time ever this week.

For the latter, it’s a chance to bounce back from their agonising, late 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

A win in Bruges can all but confirm their progression to the knockout stages of the 2025/26 Champions League.

Club Brugge vs Arsenal: Team news

Arsenal have faced a defensive selection headache in recent matches amid varying injury issues.

Gabriel remains out of action for the Gunners with a muscle injury he suffered on international duty with Brazil in November.

After their defeat to Villa, boss Mikel Arteta said Cristhian Mosquera is set to ‘be out for weeks’ with a knock he picked up against Brentford.

However, Arsenal could see William Saliba return to the squad after a knock he suffered in training before their 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

Kai Havertz is still recovering from a knee injury and may not be back until the end of the year.

Club Brugge vs Arsenal: What has been said?

Emi Buendia scored in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time on Saturday to inflict a second defeat of the season on Arsenal.

Their lead at the top of the Premier League has now narrowed to just two points ahead of Manchester City.

Reflecting on the defeat, Arteta said: “That is the league, you go to Old Trafford, you go to St. James’ Park, you go to Chelsea, you come here [Villa Park], we have been in a lot of difficult grounds.

“The result could have been different, the reality is not. We went 18 games unbeaten [in all competitions] and still we are there, close to each other. That is the level of the league, we know that.

“That is the opportunity that we have ahead of us and that’s it. Now it is time to bounce back, they have given me all the right reasons to think we are going to perform at the same level.

“We move on. We will learn from today and it will make us a better team. It’s five months into the competition and so far we have coped.

“We are going to have to prove we can cope again, again, again for another six months.

“That is the level. People who think at this moment we are going to be 10 points clear live in a different world.”
