Christian McCaffrey injury: What status means for Week 15 vs. Titans

The San Francisco 49ers host the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 and are heavy favorites. The 49ers are 12.5-point favorites, and one would expect a nice solid day from running back Christian McCaffrey against a fairly mediocre Titans defense. Christian McCaffrey injury updates

McCaffrey got a veteran’s day off on Wednesday, but then was listed as limited on Thursday. He got in a full practice on Friday and seemed on track to play after he was removed from the injury report. However, on Saturday the team added him back to the report as questionable for Sunday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news but also said that a source told him that McCaffrey would be good to go for Sunday. Notably, Schefter reported it was a back injury and not his illness. It’s unclear where the back injury came from, but it is something to keep an eye on heading into Sunday.

Fantasy football analysis

The 49ers are playing in the 4 p.m. window, which means we won’t know McCaffrey’s official status until 2:55 p.m. ET. We’ll likely get a morning update, but this leaves a little bit of uncertainty. Additionally, even if McCaffrey plays, if the 49ers jump out to a big lead it’s possible the team sits him late in the game. If he’s active he’s a guy you play in your fantasy playoffs, but it would be good to have a 4pm, SNF, or MNF option available just in case McCaffrey ends up a pre-game scratch.
