Chris Bosh makes ‘explosive’ prediction about Lamelo Ball in Minnesota

The Minnesota Timberwolves shook up the offseason by trading for LaMelo Ball, and the move is already turning heads around the league. One of those voices belongs to Hall of Famer Chris Bosh, who broke down the deal in a recent video and admitted it caught him off guard.

Bosh knows the territory. He is an 11-time All-Star and a two-time champion who spent his prime as a skilled big man on a star-driven contender in Miami, so his read on fit and spacing carries real weight.

The Hall of Famer sees it right away. Minnesota wanted another creator to pair with Anthony Edwards, especially with veteran Mike Conley getting older, and Bosh believes Ball checks that box. The guard averaged 20.1 points and 7.1 assists last season in Charlotte, and his vision should open up easy looks for everyone around him.

“This definitely puts them in the area of one of the most explosive teams in the league,” Bosh said.

That playmaking could lift Rudy Gobert too, as Bosh expects the big man to feast on lobs feeding him near the rim. “Don’t be surprised if his points per game goes up, because as much as LaMelo likes to attack, he likes to pass too,” Bosh said.

The trade did come at a cost. Minnesota sent fan favorite Naz Reid to the Hornets, with Josh Green coming back the other way along with a package of draft picks. Reid, the 2024 Sixth Man of the Year, was beloved in Minnesota, and Bosh was sorry to see him go.

“I hate to see Naz Reid go. He’s one of my favorite players,” he said.

The deal pairs the No. 1 and No. 3 picks from the 2020 draft in Edwards and Ball, giving the Wolves a shot at one of the league’s most dangerous backcourts.

“They will be one of the most explosive teams in the league next year, for sure,” Bosh said, expecting the payoff to show up fast.
