Majborough goes into the second day of the festival as the overwhelming favourite for the Champion Chase and is the only runner on the card to start the day at odds-on.

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old will once again be ridden by Mark Walsh as he lines up for his third appearance at the Cheltenham Festival.

Majborough arrives in excellent form after dominating his most recent outing at Leopardstown Racecourse last month, where he powered home by 19 lengths. In doing so, he left two-time Cheltenham winner Marine Nationale trailing in his wake.

Walsh has already guided the bay gelding to success at the festival, steering him to victory in the Triumph Hurdle in 2024.

Sent off as the joint third favourite at 6/1, Majborough defeated Kargese, yesterday’s Arkle Challenge Trophy winner, by a length and a half.

Another Mullins-trained horse, Il Etait Temps is expected to provide the biggest the biggest competition, ridden by Paul Townend, and priced at 10/3, and heads into the festival in scintillating form barring a fall in his most recent run at Ascot.

Il Etait Temps has won five of his last six races but a win at Cheltenham has eluded him on each of his three previous attempts.
