Despite their lack of victories in recent weeks, Carrick’s side still sit happily in third place in the Premier League table, though now only ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference, but their seven point lead over Saturday’s sixth placed opponents with just six matches to play should be enough to secure them a return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils have lost only one of their last seven matches on the road since the turn of the year but have also won just two of their last eight, with stalemates a common theme in their results on their travels in recent weeks.
