Chandler Parsons is a big fan of Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg

Fox Sports 1 analyst Chandler Parsons praised the Golden State Warriors for selecting Yaxel Lendeborg with the 11th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. After Lendeborg was introduced as a member of the Warriors this week, Parsons commended Golden State for its selection.

Parsons says Lendeborg has the skills to help the Warriors right away, which is precisely what they’ll need next season, he said, per Fox Sports 1’s Run It Back.

“He’s 23 years old. He’s one of the oldest guys drafted in the first round. He meets their timeline right now with Draymond, with Steph Curry, to go, and help them immediately,” Parsons said. “He’s coming off a hell of a season. Player of the Year in that conference for Michigan. National champion. He’s not one of those guys where the sky’s the limit for him. He is what he is. But he is an NBA player, and he’s going to be a great role player on this team as early as opening night. So, I don’t mind the pick.”

As one of the better NBA-ready prospects of his draft class, Yaxel Lendeborg was the subject of rumors that some teams, such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, and others, were linked to ahead of the draft, as Chandler Parsons tells fans he’s what the Warriors need.

All-Star Stephen Curry sent a message to Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg before their very first game as teammates. After Lendeborg, the New Jersey native, shared that he grew up a fan of Kyrie Irving, who famously drained the go-ahead shot in Game 7 of the 2016 Finals to beat the Warriors, Curry had a funny response.

Landeborg explained the significance of being drafted by the Warriors.

“It’s a full-circle moment for me,” Yaxel Landeborg said. “I’ve been saying this every time I get asked this question, but in 2016, I’m a big Kyrie guy, so I used to hate Stephen Curry. So now that I’m actually going to be able to be on the same team as him and play, and actually learn so much from him, it means a lot.”

Curry is very much looking forward to playing alongside Lendeborg.

“Welcome to the Bay! I’m going to work hard to be your new favorite player,” Curry commented on Instagram.

Lendeborg and the Warriors will begin summer league play in July.
